This is absolutely true and a wonderful reminder about what 'writing' actually is. I remember reading something a while ago that some large percentage of writing our stories actually goes on in our heads while we're busy doing other things. Then when we're gifted that half hour or ten minutes to ourselves, we can jot down those ideas, grab them before they float away, and then get on with the next bit.

Thank you for the reminder!

I love this. It’s like a warm supportive hug that says keep going, you’re doing great, you’ve got this. It helps you believe that something that sometimes feels impossible is possible 🫶🏻

Hey Miranda, that is such a wonderful compliment. We all need a supportive hug sometimes. Nobody tends to mother the mothers and so it's life-affirming when we can, even in some small way, give some reassurance. xx

Thank you for this encouraging, empathetic take Megan. It arrived at the perfect time for me this morning as I contemplated (again) whether I shouldn’t just give the whole writing dream up. Some days feel heavy like that and you’re right, there is no balance. But there is hope, and I think maybe, with some practice and a hefty dollop of self compassion, I can make a pendulum work.

Hi Lisa, I am so glad this resonated and we have all been there. Whether you're a published author, an aspiring one, or someone who just likes to write, those heavy times weigh on all of us at some stage. Yes...radical self compassion always x
